Basic Assignments This position is part of the management team of the El Camino YMCA. It may require evenings and weekends depending on the activities planned.
Major Functions Under the direct supervision of the Senior Health Enhancement Director, the Wellness Director is responsible for the overall operation of the following services: Group Exercise, Massage, Pilates and Nutrition Services also to include other specialty programs that fall under the umbrella of the Health Enhancement Department. In addition, this position will also assist with supervision of the Wellness Center, its staff and volunteers as well as all adult, teen and family programs. General Administrative duties include staff and volunteer development, recruitment, selection, training, supervision, recognition, fiscal management, promotion, marketing, program development and quality control, assist with branch events, and the Community Support Campaign.

Areas of accountability include: program development, management, marketing, and quality control; staff/volunteer recruitment and supervision; member service; fiscal management; financial development and stewardship; community relations.
 
Qualifications This position requires a commitment to the YMCA mission and its core values of: honesty, respect, responsibility and caring as well as a commitment to building developmental assets in adults and youth. Additionally, this candidate should value diversity, youth, teens and have a broad vision of health and wellness, which is enhanced by relationship building.

BA/BS degree is required. Minimum two years experience managing fitness and wellness programs. Proven experience in program and fiscal management. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with employees, volunteers, and members from diverse backgrounds. Strong supervisory skills with experience motivating and leading employees and volunteers. Strong planning, organization, and follow-through skills; high attention to detail. Ability to solve practical problems in situations where only limited standardization exists. Excellent written and verbal communicational skills. Self-motivated, self-directed and flexible. Experience with Microsoft Office applications. Physical ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
