Basic Assignments Responsible for overseeing the hiring, training and supervision of ChildWatch and Kid’s Club staff. The primary skills for this position are human relations, supervisory and organizational. Looking for energetic, team player understanding of a diverse community environment. Specific responsibilities are in areas of development are in areas of development and implementation of a comprehensive program plan. This position supervises staff and volunteers. Computer skills with the ability to manage a database. The ChildWatch/Kid’s Club Coordinator will also work closely with the management staff to provide services that complement YMCA programs and support family members. This position has a primary impact on the branch’s overall effectiveness of the ChildWatch and Kid’s Club programs operations in relation to meeting participant and community needs. This will be measured through:
I. The development of ChildWatch and Kid’s Club programs that relate to the goals of the branch and meets community needs.
II. The sound administration of program concepts as evidenced in good public relations and fiscal performance that meets or exceeds the budget.
III. The interpretation of the purposes of the branch to the community; the continued evaluation of program services evident in continued good relations with the total community; and the growth of the branch’s programs in terms of participants involved and are served.
IV. The sound administration of purposeful and coordinated ChildWatch and Kid’s Club programs, good public relations, sound financial and records systems, and good equipment maintenance and management.
V. The development and maintenance of good staff relations and increasingly effective volunteers, resulting in smooth collaborative teams of volunteers and staff.
VI. The exercise of good judgment and competence in implementing stated needs, objectives and interests of the Y as established and articulated by the supervisor/management.
Major Functions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position is considered to have a supervisory or disciplinary relationship over minors. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
I. Staff Administration
a. Trains ChildWatch and Kid’s Club program staff and volunteers for specific skills and general knowledge to insure quality program delivery.
b. Works with ChildWatch and Kid’s Club program staff to assure quality and consistency in all interactions.
c. Creates and implements staff development plan focused on skills, behaviors and teamwork.
II. Program Development
a. Communicates the established objectives and policies of the branch for ChildWatch and Kid’s Club staff and volunteers and counsel them on methods of carrying them out.
b. Organize and guide the staff to achieve agreed-upon monthly results contained in the ChildWatch and Kid’s Club program plans.
c. Assists with the creation and implementation of promotional materials to inform parents, members and the community of upcoming programs and events.
d. Manage and implement the approved budget and take appropriate action to correct variances.
e. Interpret and communicate the objectives and programs of the branch to the community through public communication avenues and participate actively in community organizations.
f. Promote program and membership enrollment.

III. Program Services
a. Conducts tours/interviews for potential participants.
b. Meets or exceeds agreed-upon goals for ChildWatch and Kid’s Club programs.
c. Interacts daily with participants, parents, and members to build and maintain relationships.
d. Responds to parents/participants concerns within 48 hours.
 
Qualifications Minimum one year experience working with young children and families; staff development and supervision; ability to work with attention to detail and accuracy without direct supervision.
